The ethos at Pilgrims Hall

And my God will supply all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

HE IS FAITHFUL

Today, both the Trust and the resident team rely on God’s provision to maintain the property and to retain, as far as is possible, its original features.  The building is listed (Grade 2) as being of architectural and historical interest, and much has been done by way of restoration and repairs.   Within the 19 acre estate, our sheep graze and   are bred, fruit and vegetables are grown, and free-range chickens ensure that eggs are usually in good supply!

There is still much to do, but it is God’s house and He is good.  He has been faithful in providing for the continuation of the ministry, both materially and in the calling of resident community members to serve here.  In response to such grace and faithfulness we, as community, seek to work out today that which Paul was referring to when he said,"And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19)

From a financial perspective Pilgrims Hall is a ministry not a business, and it is our desire that cost should not be a barrier to anyone wanting to use our resources.  Because of this we endeavour to hold our charges to the lowest level possible.

As a result, our earned income is not sufficient to cover our costs and we rely on the provision of God for the upkeep of the Hall, the life of team and our families, and the future continuance of the work here.  As the decades have passed, this reliance on His provision has not proved misplaced!

THE LORD’S FAVOUR

Perhaps our heart for all those who pass through our doors is best summed up by what Jesus himself said, when He stood up in the synagogue one Sabbath day and read the following passage from the scroll of the prophet Isaiah

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. Luke 4:18-19
